Getting started

Where to put a chatbot on your website

Placement, timing and page choice decide whether a chatbot gets used or ignored. Practical rules for position, auto-open delay and which pages to run it on.

In short

Put the chatbot bottom-right on every page, keep it collapsed by default, and only auto-open after a visitor has spent time on a page that suggests buying intent.

The pages that matter most are pricing, product and contact — that is where hesitation turns into a question.

Position

Bottom-right is convention, and convention is why visitors find it without looking. Bottom-left is fine if something important already lives on the right. What matters more than the corner is mobile: check that the launcher does not sit on top of your 'Book now' or 'Add to cart' button, because that costs you more than the chat wins.

Timing

An immediate pop-up interrupts. A bot that never opens is invisible. The middle ground is a short delay on pages where a question is likely — pricing, a service detail page, checkout — and silence everywhere else.

Which pages

PageRun the bot?Why
PricingYes, with auto-openHighest question density
Service or product pagesYesSpecific questions before buying

Starter questions

Two or three tappable starter questions do more for usage than any amount of styling. Use the questions you genuinely get asked — 'How much does it cost?', 'How fast can you start?' — not filler like 'Tell me about your company'.

FAQ

Questions people ask about this

Where should a chatbot appear on a website?

Bottom-right on every page, collapsed by default, with a short auto-open delay on pricing and product pages. On mobile, make sure the launcher does not cover your main action button.

Should a chatbot open automatically?

Only where a question is likely, such as pricing pages, and only after a delay. Immediate pop-ups on every page annoy visitors and get dismissed.

Should the chatbot run on every page?

Yes, but quietly. Install the script site-wide and control behaviour with position and auto-open settings rather than by leaving pages uncovered.

Do starter questions help?

Considerably. Two or three tappable questions taken from your real inbox get far more conversations started than an empty text box.
